The day finally came. We had to get miss Ireland's ears all better. She has suffered from too many ear infections in her short 2 years. ( I believe the actual total of infections was 14. sad right?) So her pediatrician said it was time for tubes and recommended we go see this
amazing ENT specialist Who just happened to be the same Dr who removed my tonsils 7 years ago and is my grandma's Dr too. When Ireland's ped recommended this man we knew he would be awesome
So, Dr. Hunter said it was time too, and explained it would be so quick, so simple, so not stressful. Phew, what a relief!
**Wed. Oct. 7th We took Ireland in at 6:30 am (yeah she was up past 2 am!)
Here is daddy putting on her gown
They give babies and kids a wagon to take them back instead of a bed. She was so scared, confused, tired, in pain and SUPER grumpy!
..... they gave her some magical medicine!! They gave her something wonderful that would make her forget everything and make her relaxed, sleepy and GOOFY!! I have 6 little videos on my phone of her saying random things, busting up laughing, eyes glazed over. So stinkin fun watching her! I love that she got to bring her dog and blankie!
I tried to take one last shot of her right before.
About 20 mins later they came and said she was done. yay! super short. I think the operation was 10 or 15 minutes is all. They said general anesthesia makes kids super irritated, confused, whiny and moody. YEP! We heard a scream and some wimpering as they woke her up. She came out and they gave her juice, a popsicle and she was like howling - so funny! She was so confused. They said she was behaving better than most. what?! she was so mad!! anyway, she had a little pain and they gave her tylenol. and she had some randomly that day and the next morning, and she has been a whole new kid ever since! ha ha ha well...... as far as not crying from her ears hurting ALL THE TIME before this!
this was more for us including Ireland to look back and remember (well not her, remember the wonderful medicine?!) and hopefully see that it all was to help her.
Her ONLY restrictions with this is she can't scuba dive! ha ha yeah, like that was going to happen! She has to stay above 9 feet of water. ha ha ok we will try. We took her for her one week check up and all looks well. Now we go back in one year to check again
