Ireland sings in church!

So I possibly have the most amazing 2 year old in the world!! We went to my mom's church last week as she was giving a talk and she asked Ireland to sing 'I am a Child of God' in sacrament, with no music or help. Ireland was all for it. Would she do it? would she get nervous? ?Be silly? no!! She sang and did it beautifully!!!

not sure it was supposed to be filmed but I don't care because I now have this for the rest of my(and her) life!!

She got scared from the loud microphone so wait for her to sing... about 25 seconds in. turn up your volume to hear!

She has been invited to sing in my church and my dad's! She thinks it is the best thing ever!!

Leighton turns one!

I did her party post before this one because her birthday was about a week after the party.
ok so I am getting to this post two months late because I finally snagged some pics from my husband and mother. I don't need to warn you that this is long. It's me, so thats already a given...

If you want to read about Leighton's scary and intense delivery you can read that here

If not or you already did, here is her birthday from 2 months ago:

June 24, 2010 Leighton Hallie turned one!!!

It worked out that I didn't watch any kids that day! So I had my girls all to myself. yes! My sister and I took my two girls and two of their friends to the park that has all the water. They had fun, got wet and Leighton was walking around pretty good! Even in the water!

Then later we went to the "duck park" (its not even a park.. what IS that place really called??) and fed the ducks, geese, swans, pigeons, seagulls, and whatever else was there.

we had a party at home with just my parents and Daniel's parents. It was a fun, busy day. here a bunch of pics from Lei's fun day

How is it in just one year my little girl went from this:

to this:

this is my mom with my girls

I left them out of the order of the day on purpose. It's kind of fun to just go back and forth of all we did on her day

I LOOOOVE, love love this little girl. She makes my day better just by looking at her. With her permanent smile, her goofy personality, her little faces she makes, how she wakes up every single day with a huge smile and squeal when she sees you, how she still kicks her legs every time I pull her out of her crib, how every time she wants a bath she roams the house signing and saying bath to anyone who will listen, how she knows more words than I think she should know at this age, how she knows over 20 signs and uses them on a daily basis, how she has an obsession with shoes and hands them to me and waits as I put them on, I love how she knows sometimes when she needs to be changed, she says bum bum and will sit or lay in front of the place I change her, I love how she is so quick to remind everyone of their manners, if I give Lei something, before she takes it out of my hand she does the sign and says thank you BUT if you give something to someone else, she looks right at them and keeps saying thank you until they do! I love how she asks all day long to go outside and never stops smiling when we do go out and how she cries when we come in because she loves to be out walking, exploring and getting some sun, I love how when we went camping this weekend how she was a trooper when the poor thing face planted THREE times, was swollen above her cut lip and had a mouth full of dirt, she just keeps going. Nothing holds this girls back. She loves scripture time each night and actually gets excited and sits in my lap, she folds her little arms at prayers, she still wants me to hold and cuddle with her through out the day. She is an amazing sleeper and every day when she is tired, she does the sign for night night and sometimes just walks back in her room and stands by her bed. I put her in and she just smiles at you and falls asleep. She still takes two naps a day and sleeps about 12 hours a night. She has been running for a while and loves her daddy to chase her through the house. That cute little thing can go fast!! She has good leg strength. She dances and bounces when any song comes on. She will kiss you all day long and thinks her sister is the coolest cat around.

Awww yes I could go on. Leighton is a very special spirit in our home. She is a very kind hearted little soul. We sure love you patty cake!!

Can I be honest here?

So... I have a confession. Maybe this is too personal?? but I am having a super, hard, depressing week(s) and I can't seem to get happy. Like really happy. I need to vent so I can feel better.
After my last blog I wondered if I ever sound like I am bragging when I talk about my kids. that isn't my intention. honest. I love my kids more than I could ever describe and every.single.thing they do makes me so excited I have to tell everyone. I think they are so funny and assume everyone wants to hear every precious thing they say or do because it makes ME so happy you know? So I just want to shout about their accomplishments. Maybe I shouldn't care because it's my blog and or facebook and I want to preserve the memories. But I don't want everyone to hate me either you know?? I don't want everyone to be like shut up already!! (too late??)

I WANT to be happy. Not sad. Not mopey and tired all the time. When I watch kids I always try to be "ON" and happy and silly and fun. But I am not. not in real life. Lately I yell at my own children. I have zero patience, I cry every day. what the heck?

This is not a pity party. I just want everyone to know I am not ALWAYS happy. My life is not perfect, my kids are not 100% happy all the time, we are normal. maybe even crazy. I worry too much about what people think so I never post the bad. I never post the sad days. I only write the happy, fun things. But my life isn't always fun. I struggle with things like everyone else.

What was the point of this post?? I already forgot. well that's because I am human.

Really though... happy thoughts coming up!! I need to really really get up pictures of Leighton's birthday and her party. K for sure I will do it as soon as I can figure out how.....

Bummer

I am so sad. Why is it when I remember to blog I can't? My computer is dead my camera is full of pictures on 2 memory cards, my phone is full of pics. I have no where to put them :( I am still using Daniel's little school laptop. I can't slam this thing with the HUNDREDS of pics that I take (what can I say, I don't want to miss anything my kids do!)

I will put a few pics at a time and just delete them after?? I dunno what to do. I FORGET EVERYTHING that's why I blog so I have these pictures and stories to remind me and make me smile.

Well some things before I forget about the family:

Leighton- This girl amazes me more and more each day. She is at that age where she absorbs EVERYTHING she hears!! ( I know I know. All kids do and say these things but let me be happy for my kid and save the list of her accomplishments)

Leighton is a talker! She repeats everything. Like yesterday on our walk I pointed out a few trees. After a few rounds up and down the sidewalk she started pointing to the trees and calling them by name! yes!!

here are the things I can remember that she says: baby, dog, I love you but doesn't say the "you" part- just I lo- and she leaves off the "ve" ha ha.
she says fish, star, diaper, thank you and banana and Jesus. she says excuse me if someone burps. ha ha. when she wants to be held, she says up, up! If you say "oh, that's nice" she will lay down right where she is and put her head on the floor, you or the animal she is holding. She loves to give kisses and does all day. Once Daniel walked in the room and she pursed her lips and just sat there. So dan walked across the room and kissed her and she smiled and went back to playing! She also nods her yes to questions lke did you sleep good, and asking if that was funny. but her nods include the whole body. pretty cute

She also says thank you if you give her something. All on her own

She can sign shoes, book, apple, outside, book, bath, play, ball, eat, all done, owee, and she says and signs "again" like after a song or when we dance to youtube videos on the tv.

oh no I can't remember anything more :(

She is a great munchkin. So happy. Still only has 6 teeth. The same ones since she was 9 months old. I want her now to just get them in and over with, so every time she is fussy I am not wondering if she is teething.

Ireland- awww my sweet Ireland. This girl is incredible. I get complimented on her often. It's because she has amazing manners, she is so friendly and helpful. My neighbor came over yesterday just to talk about how great she is/was in nursery. Ireland is a bright little lady. She draws these pictures and I have to ask her "you REALLY drew that?" She always does. She draws flowers to the point where you can totally tell that's what it is. In sacrament she says mommy look an umbrella. It looked exactly like one!! Also a swing! What the heck!? Now for stuff like that I don't know if she just draws and then it looks just like something but sometimes she tells me what she will draw and it looks awesome!! I need to get some videos and pics up. sigh
Ireland knew the alphabet in sign language before she turned 2 if you signed to her she could say it but now she can do it! and is learning what each letter sounds like. She asks me all the time to "do letters"
Ireland is still the best big sister I could hope for. She always holds sister's hand and says "look mom, we best friends!" Leighton just eats it up. She thinks her sister is the best thing in the world.

Dan and I-

Well we just had our 4 year anniversary! yay! That day was fun, we went to The Salt Lake Temple and all around Temple square and had our family pics done!! The girls looked so cute I couldn't stand it! I am dying to see the final shots!! After those we went to the store and let the girls pick out a surprise for being so good. (sadly I can't remember what else we did. ahhhh. well it IS 7 am. I am ONLY up cause I watch a baby at 630 am... I know!! and he is asleep now. oh right, anyway.......)

So the next day was Friday and we had Ireland go stay at my dad's for the night and Leighton at my mom's. Their first sleepover! broke my heart. I HATED HATED HATED leaving them! But it was sorta good (just kidding I survived and had fun!!) They did great and we had a blast! I had no idea what Daniel had planned. He took me to a hotel he had booked (pretty sweet room by the way) and we just hung out then went shopping at the gateway Then off to dinner at Red Rock. yummy!!! then stayed up until way too late playing games, watching tv... relaxing. The next morning we went shopping again! And during that Daniel took me into the Apple store and tried to convince me why we need an iphone AND an ipad. uhhh... lol we will see. I got the girls some cute things cause I missed their guts. Oh and we went to breakfast because we slept in until TEN!! and missed the breakfast in the hotel. ha ha

that's all about that. As far as everyday stuff... Dan is in school again for the semester. he is almost done with school!! He loves being able to work from home and see his sweet girls each morning and off and on through out the day he can just walk out and see us and eat. We also love having him here

I still have this in home daycare and loving it. I also am teaching preschool a little bit at rest time (mostly to the 5 year old who is getting ready for Kindergarten) but Ireland loves having her turn too. So she is learning the same stuff (minus the big hard stuff) she keeps up just fine.

I am honestly just going to go to bed now. I am not sure I make much sense at this point. Do I make sense? ugh.

Memorial weekend

Well my computer died. So sad. I haven't had a way to do blog posts. My sister and Daniel have computers but mine has all my photos, everything how I know it and like it. I am doing this on Daniel's little school laptop and it is stressing me out. So even though it looks like a lot of pics... and since between all of us we took HUNDREDS it doesn't seem like much to me. I don't want to fix the order or appearance of these.
I am behind on all of our adventures. I will do the best I can before I get even more behind. This post is our trip to Lake Tahoe over Memorial weekend. Next time will be Leighton's party, then her B-day post, then our trip up to Snowbird, then... who knows.

Here is Tahoe!

This one is up at the waterfall. I am terrified of heights so while everyone took pics, I kept the kids far away... and safe!

Ireland and I playing at the beach

the first night it was FREEZING!! yeah the end of May- good thing we brought our winter wear!

Kayak time!! This is clever Ireland hitching a ride

this is a wonderful hole-in-the-wall place that is tradition to stop at and eat at

Daniel and I out on the kayaks

oops missed one...

ha ha back on the beach. sorry for the order. I had her in jammies so she could go right to bed after :)

this is Virginia City. Ireland just had to ride that horse!

This makes me laugh. ALL DAY LONG people wanted to come look at our "twins" or would say "look how cute, twins!" The funny thing is.. the people we stayed with and were pushing the stroller behind us had twins! And no one said anything to them. It was the weirdest thing.

Ireland is in this stage where she always had to "do" someone's hair. Every day. My sister is in hair school so maybe that is why she gets the idea since my sis is always doing people's hair at our house. It is so cute. She will be combing your hair and say "you look like a model" every time! She will come around and look at the front and check it. She will possibly even call you gorgeous. :)
Anyway that is what we did Memorial weekend. (Also a BBQ, shopping, driving around the lake, playing, movies, sleeping, lots of eating, you know vacation-y stuff!)
